Product description

Bob Dylan's thirty-eighth studio album, Triplicate, is a masterful collection of classic American songs, meticulously crafted to transport listeners to a bygone era. Released on 31 March 2017 by Columbia Records, this triple-disc set features 30 brand-new recordings, marking a milestone in Dylan's illustrious career as his first triple-length album.

Produced by Dylan himself under the pseudonym Jack Frost, Triplicate is a testament to the artist's deep reverence for the originators of popular song. With his touring band firmly in the pocket, Dylan swings along with showstoppers like "Sentimental Journey" and "September of My Years", exuding a majestic darkness that celebrates the timeless beauty of these classic tunes.

The album is presented in thematically-arranged 10-song sequences, taking the listener on a journey through the Great American Songbook. From the opening notes of "I Guess I'll Have to Change My Plans" to the closing strains of "Why Was I Born", Dylan's distinctive voice and phrasing bring new life to these beloved standards.

With a duration of 1 hour and 34 minutes, Triplicate is a generous offering from an artist who continues to inspire and delight audiences with his unique interpretations of classic American music. As a folk rock, folk, singer-songwriter, roots rock, and country rock album, Triplicate is a must-listen for fans of Bob Dylan and anyone who appreciates the art of timeless songcraft.

This 2023 Reissue 3LP set is pressed on 180g vinyl.

so, how scarce is this so-called 'limited edition'? does a 5 digit number imply up to 99,999 units? edit: this website claims 15,000 globally https://www.whatrecords.co.uk/items/75728.htm

In my view, this is one of Dylan's top albums. And and it sounds fantastic as well.

  • Dylan's Timeless Songbook Revival

    5 out of 5 stars
    Zpikajaiij_QrotxJanuary 16, 2025United States🇺🇸

Incredible vinyl pressings! Just finished playing all three records and they sound fantastic, with superb dynamics (the acoustic instruments shine, and Garnier's bass is extra sweet with the bow). Dylan's vocals are filled with a wisdom and perspective that only comes with time, and these timeless tunes are even better with his weathered, personal touch. He truly revives these nearly forgotten American Songbook songs that are sadly fading away. One of the things that attracted me to this collection (and all of Dylan's American Songbook trilogy albums) is how spot-on his band is; they're incredibly tight, and the music takes you back to some nameless, timeless era of America that's quickly slipping away. Dylan's crooning is a perfect fit with his band, and you'd be hard-pressed to find such a high-quality collection of so many tracks. I think once Dylan is gone, there will be a reckoning for this series, and it will receive the recognition it deserves. Meanwhile, fans who can just sit back and let Mr. Zimmerman take them on a journey through the smoke rings of their mind will be in for a treat.

  • Whiskey Needed for Bob's Singing

    5 out of 5 stars
    IzwBuqcgJuly 7, 2024United States🇺🇸

Evil & unsettling all at once, as Bob actually attempts to SING these tunes, instead of growling them like he normally does. Regardless, this 3xLP faux-78rpm bookleted bastard should've come with a bottle of whiskey!
