At one point, this album was quite pricey, and it's certainly one of Elton's most overlooked works that people often skip over. The sound quality is absolutely gorgeous, and the pressing is fantastic.
In discussing "The Diving Board," numerous reviewers highlight the minimalistic arrangements and some point out John's return to his musical origins. I can't really comment on those aspects, though I must say the piano truly stands out on this album, with other instruments sometimes feeling superfluous.
