Got my copy today! The first track has a bit of a rough edge in the highs, but that was just a cleaning issue! The second record sounds way better right from the start! And after giving it a clean... WOW! Huge bass! Sound is crisp and spacious, can't tell it apart from the original mix. These new re-releases are usually remastered, but not this one. I'm in love with this album. It's my favorite Prince record.
This album looks & sounds fantastic! So glad it's finally been re-released for everyone. Regardless of your personal beliefs, the effort Prince put into this record is truly impressive!
If Prince's tendency to spread his beliefs isn't your cup of tea, you might want to skip this one. Me? I'm all for it - "keep on preaching, brother", I say. Musicians ought to express what they're experiencing, and if that happens to be a mix of various faiths, anti-racist views, and a vision of a digital paradise, who am I to criticize? But if you're a fan of Prince's guitar skills, oh man, you're in for an absolute feast. We're talking Zappa-tier stuff here. In fact, when it comes to his guitar work, this might just be the best Prince album I've ever heard. It's incredibly diverse, jazzier than usual, super rock, with a good number of classic Prince funk tracks sprinkled in, and some smooth, groovy R&B love songs too, of course. All things considered, I can't picture any Prince fan who wouldn't adore this album. I reckon that with this one, he truly reaches his full potential.
Got my album last Friday, after giving it a full listen, I can say my copy sounds flawless and the album is absolutely incredible, Prince truly was a genius!
Bit nervous but awesome sound for an LP unofficially.
