Absolutely fantastic Deluxe Box Set! The endless extra trinkets are adorable but I doubt I'll revisit most of them soon. Adore the booklet though I'd have preferred it styled like the 'Sign o The Times' book. The Concert Blu-Ray is superb but I'll truly enjoy it once I get my new TV. The Bonus CD is pleasant. I appreciate how the Blu-ray & CD are kept safe in protective sleeves....This is exactly how the 'Sign o The Times' CD/DVD set should've been packaged. NOW, regarding the vinyl, I'm thrilled. The 180 gram LPs are flawless, sound incredible with perfect audio dynamics and minimal surface noise....Silent. With all the money poured into this massive Deluxe Box, it would've been ideal if the vinyl was gold, NOT black. Oh well, I do value the anti static poly lined sleeves the 2 albums are kept in. In summary, this is a great follow-up to the '20Ten' project. The Prince Estate did an amazing job with this Deluxe Box. 4.5 stars!
this is such an amazing album... i wasn't sure about buying it but the quality is phenomenal! each track is spot on... pressing is super quiet with just a hint of background noise. i'd definitely recommend it
Does change occur from within? Absolutely! 💜 Absolutely breathtaking album from The Prince Estate.
Bernie Grundman's mastering on this is absolutely fantastic. The gold vinyl does have a bit of noise, especially on side B, but I'm really pleased with the music and the overall quality of this project. The Estate must be thrilled with the results.
I'm happy these audio problems have been brought to light, initially, I assumed it was my CD player acting up. Indeed, a couple of tracks seem to have that CDr (CD-rot) degradation issue, causing a fluttering sound. It's quite irritating and odd that this occurred in such a prominent release. I can only guess that the source tapes were compromised, as it's known that the renowned vault experienced water damage at one point. Regardless, it does detract from what is otherwise a strong release. UPDATE - it turns out the affected tracks were sourced from CDr. That clears things up.
