My version is quite tidy and hushed. The audio quality is really good all the way through. It's got a full spectrum, clear distinction, a fair amount of soundstage, and the finer points. This one's got a warmer sound compared to the Purple Rain soundtrack.
This reissue is a fantastic pressing. The bass is solid, the highs are clear, and the vinyl is super quiet.

I'm absolutely thrilled with this new release. I picked it up today from a local electronics shop for just 26,70 €, which was an amazing deal. Having the original European version to compare, I usually only invest in "new" vinyl if it's been carefully remastered and has positive reviews. After giving most of the tracks a listen, here's my take: I'm really pleased with the quality. There are no clicks or pops, and the vinyl is perfectly flat. "Automatic" remains my favorite track, and I must say, the version on this release, mastered by Bernie Grundman, sounds even more vivid and detailed than the original. It's an excellent pressing, and the bonus discs sound surprisingly great. The video version of "Automatic" alone made this purchase worthwhile. I typically stick with original pressings, but this was a fantastic choice that I definitely don't regret. [Using an Ortofon 2M Black cartridge for playback]
I may not be an audio expert, but as a huge Prince enthusiast, this sounds absolutely fantastic to me. It even surpasses my well-worn 1982 version. Plus, it's stunning! Kudos to Bernie Grundman! I sincerely hope he continues to oversee all future Estate releases. Maybe even a fresh remaster of Purple Rain? Keep those fingers crossed!
