Emerging from a shadowy and enigmatic album, just a step beyond the psychedelic '60s, where half the tracks openly discuss drug use and the rest allude to it, The Rolling Stones presented this gem to an audience of only 1200 in the white line-crazed city of LA, unaware of the immense impact this release would have on the world of rock 'n' roll and social culture forever. It's about time this stellar recording entered the public eye, though poorly recorded cassettes have been passed around over the years in back alleys and shady parks, like some underground deal, merely hinting at what so few experienced that electric night. Years later in Philadelphia, under peculiar skies, high as a kite, like some female Keith Richards lost in ecstasy, amazed that I'd made it through the night in one piece, I finally got to let these songs wash over me. The collective high of the night has never faded, the crowd moving and breathing as one, the band pushing us on, and us pushing them, leaving me, and everyone else in the venue that evening, with a glowing smile that still gives me chills today. The night air was cool on my skin as I left the theater, a cop tipped his hat to me as I strutted to my MG, shocked to find my roof had been slashed, with only the cigarette lighter taken, meaning no sweet smoke for the long drive home, which was probably for the best ... leaving echoes of what you're about to hear, resonating in my ears.
This is an amazing recording with a truly outstanding performance! The tracks were sourced from iTunes, but only the Sticky Fingers songs were accessible, so the entire concert isn't (yet) available. A must-have for any Rolling Stones fan. It comes with a fantastic full-color gatefold cover and colored vinyl. The WOW label release includes a CD as a bonus, but this is a great release too.
Unbelievable...why did no one shut up that loud, shrieking, wailing, nightmare?! AMAZING performance but wow that's quite the disaster. Would be a perfect regular attendee if not for her. Since they were filming a show for distribution, sending a staff member in to take out the trash would've been smart. My side 4 has a LOT of crackles/pops in it, otherwise flawless
