I've got another one, Charles Mingus - Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus, a second pressing RVG, VG+. I'd say this one's a smidge better. The instruments just seem a bit more real, and the overall sound's a tad more together. It's not a massive difference, but you can definitely tell. That said, this is a really fun pressing to listen to, and since it's so quiet, in some ways it's even more enjoyable. I'd say it's definitely worth the cash.
Wow, this is absolutely amazing. What an era we're living in, with reissues like this and every single one from the Acoustic Sounds Series I've listened to so far.
The album sounds fantastic overall! I'm really digging the dynamics and the crispness of the highs. Sadly, it's chock-full of production leftovers, which I spotted right away upon opening it (tiny white dots). This record desperately needs a good clean; otherwise, you'll be stuck with a ton of surface noise, which is truly a letdown for a jazz reissue aimed at audiophiles and definitely shouldn't be happening. Apart from that, I can wholeheartedly recommend it for both the quality and quantity, as well as the tracks themselves.
The record has some small crackles here and there, but apart from that, it sounds pretty good. It's a heavy 180g vinyl, top-notch quality. I bought it straight from Verve.
Yet another flawless release from the 'Verve Acoustic Sound Series'! The mastering and pressing are absolutely superb. I'd definitely recommend it!
