The audio quality is just bad. It's like listening to a shady, unlicensed CD.
I'm puzzled as to why only myself and one other person seem to own this specific version. I picked up my copy from a local vinyl shop back in 2009. The matrix is identical to the 1999 version, which makes me somewhat doubtful about the actual release year. It does feature the Sterling stamp and the release number, both stamped and hand etched. Maybe someone out there can shed some light on this?
This is the finest iteration yet. The sound quality is astonishingly better than the 1999 original and the 2017 EU re-release. I just did a side-by-side with the LPs. Nice to see.
The audio quality is fantastic, perhaps a tad too much so. The pressing is flawless. It's all so well-done that it picks up some of the raw essence of the original recording, making it sound a bit bass-heavy. But man, the hum of the amps and the resonance of the cymbals are just awesome. Overall, it's a fantastic listen.
Received this box set today. I'm familiar with this album, but this version is mind-blowing! The sound quality is incredible, so clear and powerful, it's like fyuck! You can really feel every kick, every bass note, and oh my God, Jimi's guitar is out of this world. This is by far the best-sounding version of Jimi's Woodstock performance.
