This record sounds INCREDIBLE, if you ever come across one, it's the one to get. I'm not into, don't listen to, or own a stereo version of this album, but for mono, this pressing, despite being a fold down, absolutely beats my UK mono in terms of liveliness and that pure, natural beauty. Everything that's direct and warm about a mono record is here.
The album's volume is turned down real low, making it sound all muffled. Really letdown. The only good thing is the gatefold cover with the lyrics.
Is there a calendar from musikexpress included? My copy has one advertising a concert from '68
As I said before, this record is almost flawless! I was a bit concerned about the shiny look, but boy was I wrong, shiny vinyls can indeed be fantastic!!
In my opinion, this album stands as Hendrix’s ultimate triumph. It steers clear of the pop-oriented tunes found on Are You Experienced, and it doesn’t have the over-the-top elements of Electric Ladyland. That said, I reckon many would concur that we could skip “EXP” as the starting track. The two castle-inspired songs are absolute gems, and I’m particularly fond of “Wait Until Tomorrow” and the album’s title track. This particular pressing is excellent: those late '70s Reprise reissues are among the finest vinyl pressings of Hendrix’s work you can get your hands on.
