This is the definitive take on this fantastic Bowie record. I owned the CD for ages and only found it somewhat decent. But the vinyl version truly sharpened my listening experience, highlighting the details and offering a fresh perspective on the songs. It's incredible how relevant BIS remains - both in style and themes. The original production still stands strong in 2022, blending all the core musical and lyrical elements Bowie had explored over the years. Consequently, it feels familiar yet modern, even ahead of its time. I reckon serious musicians are still drawing inspiration from Bowie's vast musical legacy. I'm convinced this album will only gain more recognition and appreciation in the coming years, and the value of this edition will rise. Snag a copy while it's still available.
Quiet as a mouse, bass-packed, and sounding oh-so-lush… this is a fantastic re-release of an incredible but shamefully underrated album. It's no surprise that it was a top pick for the legend himself. If you're only grabbing one of Bowie's '90s re-issues, make it this one. Though, I gotta say, adding the lyrics would've been a nice touch – there's plenty of room as it's not exactly a word-heavy album.
Here's my take on the 2LP Italian pressing. Absolutely fantastic! The audio quality surpasses most of the remasters from this century. Thrilled to own it.
I frequently get the sense that this album is brushed aside or not given the attention it deserves, which is a real pity because it's a top-notch work that absolutely belongs in Bowie's official discography. It stands strong on its own and is far more than just a soundtrack. The Mysteries track alone is worth the price of the album.
Can someone explain why there's a static sound effect in Ian Fish, U.K. Heir now? It wasn't there in the older reissues. But it's been included in this version and the digital box set. My copies from the 2007 CD and the one from All Saints don't have that crackly static that this version and the box set version do have.
