This is the ultimate take on this fantastic Bowie album. I owned it on CD for ages and only thought it was okay. But the vinyl version really made me focus on the music, highlighting the details and giving me a whole new understanding of the songs. It's incredible how relevant BIS remains - both in style and themes. The original production still holds up in 2022, blending all the musical and lyrical elements Bowie had used over the years. That's why it feels familiar, modern, and even ahead of its time today. I reckon serious musicians are still drawing inspiration from Bowie's vast musical legacy. I'm convinced this album will only gain more recognition and appreciation over time, and the value of this edition will rise. Snag a copy while it's still available.
After cleaning the second side, 'Ian Fish UK Heir' still sounds as crackly as a bowl of Rice Krispies. I'm new to this album and just found out that 'static' was intentionally used on the track. However, I also came across some people saying there's an official mix without the crackle! Given the quality of new vinyl nowadays, I wouldn't be surprised if the crackle on my copy is a fault. It seems quite excessive. I know it stops before the last track, but with such quiet music and tight grooves, you'd think it would be less noticeable!I've checked out some YouTube uploads and haven't heard one with as much vinyl crackle as my copy. So, that's probably the final word on it.Any insights from other buyers of the vinyl reissue would be greatly appreciated. Do you think I might have a faulty copy?
Just sharing my thoughts on the 2LP version (Made in Italy). Fantastic job! The sound quality is superior to most remasters from the 21st century. So glad I got it.
Just sharing my thoughts on the 2LP version (Manufactured in Italia). Outstanding job. It's got a better sound than most of them remasters from this century. Glad I got it.
Inaudibly quiet, bass-dominant, and sonically rich… this is a fantastic reissue of an exceptional but shamefully underrated album. It's no surprise that this was one of the personal favourites of the legend himself. If you're only going to grab one of the '90s Bowie re-releases, make it this one. I would've loved to see the lyrics included, though – they could've easily fit as it's not exactly a word-heavy album.
