Once again, Iron Maiden delivers an amazing live album. The manager's notes on the sleeve are spot on, and the stage design sketches are quite fascinating.
Grabbed this at Walmart for $35.98. The audio quality is top-notch, but after giving it a full listen, I reckon “En Vivo!” outshines this as a live performance. I get that the band's played these tracks countless times and aims to tweak the arrangements, but Bruce sounds like he's on valium during many songs, making them a bore compared to other live renditions of the same tunes. Give it a preview before purchasing, just like I wish I had.
Initially, there was a l9t of static during the first use, but it's been working well for a few days now.
The Parlophone version showcases a few notable distinctions compared to the BMG pressing; the discs are slimmer and less weighty, so if these are indeed 180g, the BMG ones must be around 200g. The inner lyric/credit sleeves are glossier and more delicate, resembling paper, as opposed to the BMG's thicker, cardstock-like sleeves. The green record in this edition is a much deeper shade than the BMG's, and similarly, the red record is darker and richer, while the BMG's appears more pinkish when placed side by side. The Parlophone hype sticker appears more polished, unlike the more generic one from Walmart. Most significantly, this pressing delivers a deeper, bass-heavy sound, whereas the BMG pressing has a brighter tone.
