I just got the LP and I must say, the sound quality is amazing. There's not a single pop or crackle, and Joni's voice is incredibly smooth and crisp. This is an outstanding pressing. The album includes some of Joni's most impactful songs, like Cherokee Louise, but it also guides you through her turbulent relationship, beginning with the title track, Night Ride Home. This song is gorgeous, with the sounds of crickets and describing a car ride home filled with feelings of love and perfection.

I almost passed on this one when I spotted it for just £1 at a charity shop. (Lately, I've grabbed a bunch of bargain Joni albums, which I've given a single listen before tucking them away in a box, ready to offload painlessly sometime soon, no worries, they won't be harmed). Joni's '60s and '70s work, of course, is mostly brilliant. I skipped the '80s, not for any particular reason, just probably due to some mixed reviews I came across. This 1991 album feels like a comeback to me. Joni sounds assured in her material, the band are on point (though the drums on "The Windfall" might be a tad heavy-handed, maybe turn it down a notch, yeah?), and the songs are fantastic.
