First time picking up a MoFi One-Step, and I couldn't have chosen a better album to start with - it's a true classic in my book. I'm thrilled I went for it, as the sound quality is nothing short of phenomenal. I'd even say it surpasses my other top-tier pressings, the 2014 Bellman / Grundman and the 1976 Japanese release. Now, if you could only do 'Hissing' next.
Great sound quality! I've had a tough time finding a pristine copy of this album, but this one sounds fantastic. My current copy could still be a bit better, so I'll keep searching for an even cleaner version. However, the pressing itself is excellent. Like most of Joni's records, the music is incredibly dynamic, so you really need the cleanest copy possible, or you'll notice the noise.
The matrix/runout details on my vinyl copy are spot on with this release, but it's a mispress. The actual songs on my record are different, here's what's on it:A1 - CoyoteA2 - AmeliaA3 - Furry Sings the BluesA4 - Black CrowA5 - Blue Motel RoomB1 - Song for SharonB2 - Black CrowB3 - Blue Motel RoomB4 - Refuge of the RoadsBlack Crow and Blue Motel Room are on both sides, while A Strange Boy and Hejira are nowhere to be found. Though, the cover and labels have the correct track list printed on them.
Her best album yet, it's got feels and it's musically thrilling. Part of my autumn rotation, alongside Goats Head Soul and a couple others. AMAZING QUALITY!!!
This pressing is just about flawless. It's spotless, perfectly flat, and centered to a tee. The mix and mastering are top-notch too. The bass does stand out a bit more, and Joni's vocals are a tad more subdued. But it's well-balanced and not bad at all. I can understand why some might lean towards the Chris Bellman version if they prefer her vocals to be more upfront. It's all about personal taste, though, and I can't fault this version for that. Highly recommend this pressing. TT: Fisher MT-6225 Amp: Harman/Kardon hk495iCart: AT-VM95mlSpeakers: Tannoy C-8
