  Fantastic sounding record! I can't stand when folks use the “gotta blast the volume” thing as a bad point for a pressing. “Volume needs a boost”. Lol big deal! That's what the volume knob is for. If it hits the spot, who cares where your volume's at?

  Ozzy's gr8 but gotta admit, Dio was way better as a metal singer. Maybe not perfect for Sabbath, but damn, what a voice! This album's awesome, Dio really made the band shine.

  The audio quality is quite good, but there's a noticeable crackle between certain tracks, which becomes more apparent when you turn up the volume—this really became bothersome as it interfered with the beginning of "Sign of the Southern Cross." It seemed like there was a slight crackle in the right channel throughout Side A, which was quite irritating for someone with audio-OCD like me. Side B sounded much better, and the bonus LP was fine as well. As for this mastering, it's decent but not flawless; while I do prefer the modern remasters over the original CD, this album still sounds great on vinyl. It appears to have more headroom and clarity in some sections when compared side by side. That being said, comparing this to an original Heaven & Hell release is no contest—Dio's voice sounds buried in the mix, so there's definitely room for improvement in future remasters to bring it up to par with his other work. In summary, I deducted 1 point because the sound didn't completely wow me (i.e., a 5-star, perfect score), and another point because Side A had issues.
