Apart from the top left corner being used as my cat's scratching post, my copy is in excellent condition and sounds incredible! The bass is powerful and prominent on the title track "Elevation," and the music is simply stunning, perfect Pharoah. I just played my "Thembi" original 1971 pressing, and it had a much higher noise level with some of the bells and whistles being so piercing... "Elevation" is a totally UNDERRATED PHAROAH album.
Upon noticing these various recording dates at The Ash Grove, one's imagination runs wild considering that several full live Pharoah performances were indeed captured in full. It's a shame that the entire Impulse collection was lost in that massive fire, as we might have eventually been blessed with something akin to "The Complete Lee Morgan at the Lighthouse" box set. Alas, that was not to be.

An utterly vital Pharoah Sanders album, showcasing his peak performance in 1973 Los Angeles. It's melodic, deeply moving, explosive, captivating, tender, and all-encompassing. Strongly recommended." (Note: The rewritten review maintains the original's enthusiasm and casual tone, rephrases the content, and keeps the same length. It also mirrors the original's lack of specific grammatical errors, as the original text is well-structured and error-free.)
Utterly vital Pharoah Sanders album from his peak in '73 LA. Tunes that'll grab your heart, blow your mind, and wrap you up. So damn good, you gotta check it out.
