Side one of this record is, hands down, my all-time favorite track. I've listened to the CD and own a fantastic copy of this particular pressing, and I'm more than satisfied with it. Keep in mind, results can differ for others. But I'm really digging this vinyl version.
Amazing album (I'd rank the title track among the top three Sanders songs ever)... but this particular pressing comes across as lacking depth and warmth. Whenever you can, steer clear of the initial Impulse US green bullseye pressings from 1974 to 1979. Sure, there aren't many alternatives, but the Japan, French, and Italy pressings are in a completely different league compared to this one. I haven't tried it on a Quadraphonic system yet, but I doubt it'd resolve the problems I'm picking up.
Fantastic re-release. Lovely gatefold, typical quality for this collection. The pressing is smooth and quiet. Even though some say the master tapes are lost, a quick search suggests there's no proof they're not still around. I'm beginning to think this might be the case because this version has a unique charm in its sound that's rare in digital reissues. Perhaps it's just that Pharaoh is THAT amazing, but I've heard poor versions of this album and this isn't one. It's definitely worth it over paying $200+ for an original in most cases.
Among my top jazz albums… at first, I was disappointed VBR/TMR decided to re-release this due to their past QC and mastering oversights. But hey! They must've taken feedback to heart, 'cause Ryan K Smith mastered it at Sterling. Love is Everywhere indeed!
I decided to pass on the latest Impulse! reissue, which was a letdown, and instead grabbed this amazing version for just a bit more cash. The audio quality here is phenomenal. It's also cool that the labels say Impulse on this one too.
