Product description

Lou Reed's 'Set the Twilight Reeling' is a mesmerising album that embodies the essence of glam rock, proto-punk, and art rock. Released on 16 February 1996 via Warner Records, this 50-minute masterpiece takes listeners on a sonic journey through a diverse range of emotions and themes. From the opening notes of 'Egg Cream' to the final strains of the title track, Reed's distinctive voice and poetic lyrics weave a complex tapestry of sound. With tracks like 'NYC Man', 'Finish Line', and 'The Proposition', the album showcases Reed's ability to craft infectious, high-energy rock songs. Meanwhile, more experimental pieces like 'Sex with Your Parents (Motherfucker) Part II - Live' and 'Hookywooky' demonstrate his willingness to push boundaries and defy convention. Throughout 'Set the Twilight Reeling', Reed's unique blend of style, substance, and attitude shines through, making this album a must-listen for fans of innovative and influential music.

  • Lou's Best Work

    5 out of 5 stars
    hugajjogoDecember 20, 2025United States🇺🇸

Oh my god, I must've been out of the loop in '96, I've got most of Lou's stuff even from the '90s, can't believe I missed this one! I took a chance since I haven't had much luck with RSD records, but wow, this is flawless - clean, quiet, flat, no issues at all. It even came in a nice poly-lined black sleeve. And man, this album is amazing, I totally agree, one of Lou's best works, just as it says on the liner notes - 'Play It Loud'. Turn it up and enjoy!

  • Lou Reed's Best Sound Quality

    4 out of 5 stars
    kcoqdus1184February 26, 2025United States🇺🇸

Without a doubt, this Lou Reed album is among my all-time favorites. The sound quality is fantastic and really brings the music to life. Truly a top-notch experience overall!

  • Second Record Scratched

    4 out of 5 stars
    VufrigaxfiwOctober 16, 2024United States🇺🇸

I'm a bit let down by this. The first record was flawless, but the second one's got what feels like a hundred scratches on both sides. It's not affecting the sound, thankfully, but it looks like it's been tossed around the pressing plant a bunch of times. With the first one being so perfect, it's a bit of a bummer.

  • Lou Reed's Comforting Masterpiece

Lou Reed's one of his finest. He gives me this indescribable comfort, you know?

  • Live Concert Guitar Mastery

Incredible mastering, crisp separation and expansive soundstage. That guitar, WOW, so raw. Like being at a live concert. Rock on!

About Lou Reed

Lou Reed, born Lewis Allan Reed, was an iconic American singer-songwriter, musician, and actor, best known as the frontman of the influential rock band The Velvet Underground. With his distinctive deadpan voice, provocative lyrics, and innovative guitar playing, Reed left an indelible mark on the music world. Formed in 1965, The Velvet Underground, under Reed's guidance, produced four groundbreaking albums that, though not commercially successful at the time, have since been hailed as enormously influential. The band's association with Andy Warhol's Factory scene further cemented their status as pioneers of underground and alternative rock. Beyond The Velvet Underground, Reed's solo career spanned five decades, encompassing a diverse range of styles from glam rock to proto-punk. His solo work, including hits like "Walk on the Wild Side" and "Perfect Day," showcased his versatility and enduring impact on modern music. Reed's legacy as one of rock's most important singer-songwriters is undeniable, with a body of work that stands alongside legends like Dylan and Lennon-McCartney.
