The bass on this press is ridiculously thick and strong. I've gotta turn down the bass on my receiver. Once I did that, it sounds so awesome! The mids and highs are just spot on. This is an amazing mix.
I decided to give this one a shot since it was the only budget-friendly vinyl version of this album I could find. I didn't have high hopes, considering it's not a well-known release, but I must admit, I was happily surprised. The vinyl itself is clean and well-made. The cover is pretty standard, with somewhat pixelated artwork on both the jacket and the insert, but it gets the job done. The audio quality is actually quite good and stays consistent throughout. The only issue I've got is that side 2 has a bit of background surface noise, but it's easy to overlook once the music kicks in. Given how pricey most vinyl copies of this album are, I'd recommend this one if you can snag it for around $50, like I did. Anything more than that, and you'd be better off investing in an original pressing.
By F.U.C.K., Van Halen was beginning to lose their strength. The production was top-notch, as Eddie Van Halen would insist, but there's a lot of fluff in there.
I recently picked up a pristine copy of this album. The sound quality is fantastic. You might need to crank up the volume a tad more than you normally would, but that's understandable considering the album's duration. Michael Anthony's bass and Alex's drums both sound incredible. The audio is quite crisp and each instrument is distinctly separated.
Flooding the speakers with this remastered gem. Crisp, polished and packed with all the sonic elements that set bands from this time apart, showcasing the incredible talent and production of Van Halen. I attended their concert in Cedar Rapids, IA, and it was phenomenal; listening to this album, I felt like I was right back there. Just wish the liner notes had mentioned the band's rants about security being so lax for Hank Williams' show the day before but turning into total Nazis for the VH fans. They were steaming mad for the entire performance.
