Great quality re-release, though, I'd rather listen to the original/first pressing, since the sound is richer and superior...
The volume levels are a tad on the quiet side and the overall sound seems a bit squashed. That said, it's the top choice within this price range. After a few listens, I must say I'm truly impressed by how little background noise there is when I turn up the volume. The audio is crisp and clear, the only thing it's really missing is the depth I'm accustomed to from the CD version. Considering you can snag this for a fraction of what the original pressing goes for, I'd say it's a worthwhile investment if you're a collector. It'll be intriguing to see if the studio ever puts out an official re-release.***Update 4 months down the line***I'm not entirely sure if it was an issue with the finishing or if swapping out the stylus makes this much of a difference, but the audio quality is significantly better than I initially reported.There have been two major changes since my first post.1st - I gave the record a spin through a disc cleaner which might have removed some residue or something.2nd - I've upgraded from my 3 year old Ortofon Red stylus to a new Blue one and have been revisiting several albums.The sound floor is still on the lower side for this pressing but the dynamic range is enormous with a vast sound stage. It's like listening to a completely different album than the one I got a few months back. I've compared a few other records and none of them show nearly as much of a change as this one. I keep hitting replay as soon as it ends. Really glad I went ahead and made this purchase now.
