I can't stress enough how ahead of their time Yello (or should I say YELLo) truly were, and after giving this album a thorough listen, I'm even more convinced! They were light-years ahead of their time! The production tricks and techniques remind me of what you'd expect from a mid-1990s Drum-N-Bass track, though perhaps not as frenetic. Their pre-sellout "techno" style also incorporates some of the other drum machines available at the time - a refreshing change from the endless 808-909 combos that dominated the mid-'90s. And let's not forget, they were actual musicians crafting music in a musical manner, not DJs churning out "traxx" that usually amounted to one pattern, stretched over thirteen minutes with minimal variation. These are genuine "songs" with structure and, consequently, changes! Truly, music was still thrilling in 1983 (or '82? - Seems Elektra released it later once they realized its commercial potential). Now I'm completely hooked - I need to hear more from this band called YELLo... Outstanding! FIVE STARS!
I'm confused about what "I Love You (12" Mix) : 5:14" is and where it comes from - it can't be the 12" version, as that one runs longer at 7:02 and is found on various 12" records worldwide.

This album by Yello is really great and the sound quality is excellent.
This is the first time I've come across any pressings of this album, but I must say, this Canadian version's mastering isn't up to par. The vocals and higher frequencies tend to overpower the beat and bass, which is a real bummer. I reckon it'd sound much better if the vocals blended in more as instruments, rather than stealing the show. I'm pretty sure that's how Yello envisioned it too.
