This record ain't the greatest, got some skips and crackles here.
This album's version is absolutely fantastic! I can't think of any reason to choose the original UK release over this one!
Based on the info in this article: https://www.soundstageaccess.com/index.php/music-and-movie-reviews/featured-releases/1213-the-who-the-who-sell-out, these tracks are mastered from 96/24 files.
This release is most certainly a pleasant surprise, though it's a direct copy from the 1995 CD. I would've loved to see Summertime Blues & My Way included in the tracklist as they're readily available.
I'm usually all about The Who's Mono versions, they're just my jam. This "Sell Out" mono pressing would be my go-to if it weren't for the guitar solo in "Our Love Was, Is". It's just not as fiery as the one in the Stereo mix. But hey, everything else here is top-notch, especially "Armenia City In The Sky" with that massive, thumping beat that'll hit you right in the chest when you crank it up. Still, I always end up grabbing the Stereo version because of that solo... The sound quality and pressing on this edition are solid though. My copy's a bit rough (VG- with plenty of surface marks and some clicks and pops), but it still sounds clear and has that deep, rich sound without being muddy. And hey, it's got that Clearasil sleeve too, which is pretty cool.
