After giving this release some thought, I've got to say it's not a must-have for casual Who fans. I'm a big fan of this band and the show, but the restoration is just terrible. It sounds like a decent bootleg, kind of like Tales From The Who. I'm baffled as to why they didn't fix it better. It's confusing why they left it in this condition when they did such a great job on the Fillmore, Monterey, and Leeds shows. Only get this if you're a Who fanatic. Otherwise, casual fans won't find much here that you can't get from the better-restored Civic show.
The songs and the band were absolutely amazing. Perhaps it's just my version, but there was a significant amount of hiss that I couldn't get rid of. Certainly not an issue with the actual recording, which is top-notch.
I must admit, I've had my doubts about GZ Media in the past, but let me tell you, this one's a real winner. The sleeves are even poly lined! Makes you wonder, why can't they always be this good? And the music? Well, it's The Who, and it sounds absolutely incredible. These tapes have been cleaned up beautifully. Crank up the volume and enjoy! 😎
Given the original tapes' restraints, the scattered vinyl sounds remarkably crisp and distinct. However, if the tapes encompass the full range of frequencies, the cut has its constraints...I'd bet on the former.
Amazing job on the restoration, really dig the way it's presented - both the visuals and audio are top-notch on this splatter vinyl. It's way better than I had anticipated!
