The cover with the gatefold design is quite nice and feels high quality, but the actual record pressing is just okay. It's a bit on the dull side and lacks some punch. I'm not sure why they set the price so high. Really let down by this one.
Alright, I'm revising my opinion on this record. Initially, I wasn't too fond of this pressing and rated it three stars; but after upgrading my turntable and stylus, I'm now giving it four. The vinyl is really clean and quiet. I believe this pressing captures the original mix well, and I'm enjoying it a lot more these days.
The gatefold cover is really quite nice. I'm enjoying the sound quality, I can't quite fathom the other feedback. It's not mind-blowing, but it's certainly very decent. There's no more echo here than on the original release. It's a record from the early 90s, with the production values of that time, plenty of reverb. The discs are perfectly flat, no dust, no hiss, silence between songs, no pops.
This release is quite alike the first one. It's really quiet. The packaging is way better with the gatefold. The sound mix is pretty much identical to the original, so if you weren't a fan of that one, you probably won't like this one either. There are some parts with a lot of bass, but when I checked my Spanish first press, they had those too.
I've just listened to this record and it sounds fantastic on my setup. No pops, hiss, or cracks to be heard. Perhaps it's a tad light on the mids, but overall it's very well-balanced to my ears. Unlike some others have mentioned, it's not bass-heavy at all. Highly recommended. It's been a real pleasure.
