  At one point, this album was quite pricey, and it's certainly one of Elton's most overlooked works that people often skip over. The sound quality is absolutely gorgeous, and the pressing is fantastic.

  In discussing "The Diving Board," numerous reviewers highlight the minimalistic arrangements and some point out John's return to his musical origins. I can't really comment on those aspects, though I must say the piano truly stands out on this album, with other instruments sometimes feeling superfluous. What I can share is that I think this record showcases the broadest range of sounds I've heard from Elton John. The music feels intentional and ticks all the right boxes, blending emotional ballads with upbeat tracks. A few instrumental pieces scattered throughout enhance the overall flow. It's very much like experiencing a well-crafted concept album. No single song feels like it can stand alone. What I mean is, you might find a particular song to love, but I believe the true reward lies in listening to the entire album and letting the songs create their own vivid soundscape. Once the final note fades, you can appreciate the artwork as a whole and admire the collective impact. There's plenty to enjoy about this record, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone willing to give it a listen.
