For sure, this one's up there with my top 5 Billy Joel records. I'm really into how all the songs have that similar vibe, it's like a complete journey, each track's a keeper, not just the popular ones. Songs in the Attic gives me the same feels
While it's not usually considered one of his top works, this happens to be my go-to Billy Joel album. Sure, it's got a couple of instrumentals that might be seen as filler, but "Root Beer Rag" is a blast and really showcases his piano prowess. Tracks like the title song, "Los Angelenos", "Souvenir", and "Roberta" are all strong, and "The Entertainer" was a clever pick for a single. I'd bet this pressing came out sometime in the '80s, given the barcode on the back cover. The sound quality is decent, not anything special, but certainly good enough. My copy is in great shape, with just a touch of surface noise here and there.
This version of the album sounds absolutely amazing. If you're a fan of this often overlooked album, you'll definitely want to get this pressing. It's so crisp, clear, and has such great dynamics.
