I'm really digging this Japanese version, the sound quality is fantastic throughout. The Mastersound series uses digital mastering but somehow delivers an analog-like experience.
Has anyone heard about releases that have a promo stamp? It's gold and on the barcode area
This pressing is truly excellent, and our version is in pristine condition. The shift from "Easy Money" to "Innocent Man" is incredibly quiet, which makes the "Innocent Man" intro even more impactful. The quality of Don Mills pressings back in the early 80s is absolutely outstanding.
Ugh - this is way too overhyped. Billy’s vocals are way too dominant in the mix and there's a noticeable amount of harshness on the 's' sounds, which means you can't crank up the volume too high. The vinyl is on the quiet side - though my copy has what looks like a dull smudge on side A; though it doesn’t impact playback. The artwork also seems faded, though it might just be a result of a poor color choice for the MOFI logo band across the top of the front cover. Not worth the inflated prices it's currently fetching.
This album sounds absolutely amazing, and it's a massive step up in sound quality from The Nylon Curtain. It's wild how just a year of digital recording could improve this much. From what I remember, it even tops my original US vinyl copy, but I'll need to do a side-by-side comparison to be sure.
