I purchased a brand new, factory-sealed copy straight from Warner Canada. My edition (#1310 / 5000) is flawlessly flat and perfectly centered. Oh my god, what an incredible experience compared to all the digital versions I’ve listened to before. Wow! Goodbye to that thin, sterile sound and painful highs, hello to natural, dynamic, deep, and immersive 3D audio! The sound is literally dancing all around my speakers, it’s unbelievably good! Every version of this album should sound like this one, no doubt…Highly, highly recommended! 4.95 / 5
Fantastic sounding record. Rich and lively with a cozy glow and shimmer. Does this amazing album proud.
It's like traversing a shadowy cavern, guided only by faint glimmers. And "Soon" echoes like the most delicate, luminous crystal you might find in such a place.
Maybe their finest work, unquestionably the most innovative musically, the one that was truly ahead of its era. The entire musical scenery of "The Gates of Delirium" stretches far beyond the mid-seventies in certain aspects, hinting at future acts like Die Krupps, early Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, or even Metallica. The other two tracks are incredibly inventive as well and are stunning compositions in their own way. Steve Howe's guitar work is phenomenal throughout the album (and sounds quite distinct from his previous style just two years earlier), Alan White delivers exceptional drumming, and the rest of the band members are at the top of their game too. The production and engineering were already superb on the original album - must have been a quite challenging task with such a dense and powerful sonic image - and the Rhino reissue does a fantastic job again, preserving the edge and energy of the performance while adding that extra bit of clarity. A must-have piece in the discography of an extraordinary band.
El sonido es de mala calidá. Mejor busquen otra versión que merezca la pena.
