This is fantastic, and it's quite substantial for a 70s album, with a really impressive bass sound.
Tonight, I gave this a listen, and I'm as blown away as everyone else who's shared their thoughts here. Honestly, I've never experienced drums sound this incredible on a tape before. I found myself wanting to turn it down, just because the kick drum was so intense. I'm using a Technics RS-1500US machine, paired with a custom NAB->IEC equalization box. You can find more about the rest of my setup linked from my profile. One thing that's been on my mind is why other companies releasing tapes like this aren't just putting them on a single reel, like they've done here. It seems like something like The John Coltrane Quartet - Ballads, for instance, could've easily fit on one reel. There's a massive amount of extra tape at the end of both reels, so I don't think it's about them using thicker tape (so it wouldn't fit on one reel), though I suppose I could be mistaken.
In my view, this pressing sounds fantastic. It's not a bad pick at all.
Growing up, my big brother owned this CD and played it frequently. I'm really enjoying how it sounds on vinyl, it's so clear and has a lot more depth. This is definitely a great pressing to own.
Incredible pressing, boasting a highly dynamic analog sound and remarkably punchy, deep, and articulate bass, particularly in 'Starship Trooper'
