This vinyl record I've got sounds absolutely incredible. I don't have many items from the 70s, so it's like finding a hidden gem for me!
The initial Japanese pressing boasts incredible clarity and detail. It's a far more pleasurable listen compared to the first US pressing. Plus, the vinyl is super quiet too.
The usual "OneStep" traits of enhanced bass and a broad soundstage, along with the ultra-quiet super vinyl, make Fragile sound vast, dynamic, and powerful, even if it feels a bit overdone. The KG remaster is more precise and tonally balanced, offering a great mix of warmth and energy. If you're into "OneStep" collections, Fragile should definitely be on your list as it's an incredibly impressive version. But wow, that KG cut from the Master Tapes remaster is fantastic if you can't afford the DSD MoFi, costing just a fraction of the "OneStep's" price.
I picked up this fresh sealed record for $35, with shipping covered. If you're looking for a great deal, this KG re-master is an absolute steal. The vinyl is impressively quiet and top-notch in quality (it spins almost perfectly flat!), plus it sounds incredibly natural and well-balanced, straight from the original master tapes! It's hard to find fault with this.
The pressing is top-notch, the record is perfectly flat, plays smoothly and without any noise (I washed it once, there's a tiny crack at the end but it's still in the music). The audio quality is amazing, it's dynamic, the bass is powerful and deep, the mids and highs are crisp, and the stereo image is impressive. The cover is made of sturdy cardboard, glossy and well-printed, the artwork is gorgeous. This album is a pleasant surprise for me, there's so much to listen to that you keep coming back to it and notice new details each time. I don't know how the original release sounds, but I'm completely satisfied with this one and I'm thrilled. I highly recommend it. Enjoy...Played on: Technics SL-100C, Ortofon Concorde Music Bronze, Rega Fono MM MK5, Technics SU-G700M2, Yamaha NS-777, Vinyl Cleaner Pro-Ject VC-E
