The pressing and mastering on this reissue are fantastic. The bass is tight, and the vocals are incredibly crisp and clear.
Just a heads up: if you're into getting a CD or download code with your vinyl, you won't find one here. Same goes, I'd guess, for the reissues of Release and Fundamental.
It seems Nightlife isn't winning over many music lovers out there. But hey, it's truly a sleek, luscious album! Even if you're all about Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin or Autechre, just one playthrough and you'll be groovin', maybe just in your own room, though!
I'm a huge fan of every Pet Shop Boys album, and spinning them on vinyl just makes the experience even better. The quality of these pressings is top-notch; the vinyl is sturdy, thick, and perfectly flat, with minimal imperfections (just a couple of tiny clicks) and zero distortion. The audio is incredible—rich and detailed, with a deep, precise bass. The album artwork is also top-quality. I'd definitely recommend it. Enjoy...Played on: Technics SL-100C, Ortofon Concorde Music Bronze, Rega Fono MM MK5, Technics SU-G700M2, Yamaha NS-777, Vinyl Cleaner Pro-Ject VC-E
This vinyl remaster is truly outstanding, with vocals that are incredibly clear and a pressing that's spotless. The bass drum in 'For Your Own Good', the album's first track, instantly draws you in, and the remastering work is expertly done. Tennant's vocals are strikingly clear and have been brought to the forefront of the mix. Nightlife was the last Pet Shop Boys album I purchased, and I remember thinking it was a bit of a jumble back in '99, but listening to it now, I'm amazed at how well it's aged. It's a strong set of songs, except for a couple towards the end (Footsteps feels like an odd choice when the Pet's had much better b-sides from this era), but tracks like 'The Only One', 'Radiophonic', and 'Boy Strange' are far better than I initially thought way back in '99 - maybe it's the post-millennium PSB tension? This remaster comes highly recommended.
