Flawed but Warm Hill Solo

Record looks unplayed, but there are several pops and crackles on each side, more so on side one. Upon further inspection the vinyl has several tiny little bumps that cause popping sounds for about 3 revolutions each time, and also a couple of skips. Kind of ironic since I went for the US Heartbeat pressing, figuring it would be of better quality than the Sonic Sounds release, a Jamaican pressing. The production sounded a bit sterile on the Heartbeat CD I used to have, but the vinyl offers a bit more warmth to the soundstage and a more organic sound to the rhythm section. I do love this album, although you really have to consider it a Joseph Hill solo release. "Disobedient Children" is a masterpiece.

The record appears brand new, yet there are numerous pops and crackles present on both sides, with side one being particularly affected. After a closer look, I noticed several small bumps on the vinyl that cause popping noises, each lasting for about three spins, along with a couple of skips. It's quite amusing because I opted for the US Heartbeat pressing, expecting it to surpass the quality of the Sonic Sounds release, which is a Jamaican pressing. The production on the Heartbeat CD I previously owned sounded a bit cold, but the vinyl brings a warmer feel to the soundstage and a more natural sound to the rhythm section. I'm a huge fan of this album, though you should really view it as a Joseph Hill solo project. "Disobedient Children" is an absolute masterpiece.
