This is way better than that new remaster from 4AD, packed with rich sound and super dynamic. If you can't snag a good deal on a clean original UK or US copy, this one's a solid choice.
I almost went for the recent repress, but decided to wait after checking out the comments here. Luck was on my side, and I snagged this pressing at a good price - it truly does the music justice, especially the bass - what an incredible album.
Got this baby since day one, and it's still got that amazing sound. Back then, labels actually cared about quality. You'd hardly ever find a record with clicks and pops. These days, it's like they've become the norm.
I signed up for Discogs just to post this review. This version is really awesome! My vinyl copy was pristine and perfectly flat. The sound quality is fantastic too. By fantastic, I mean the audio is crisp with almost a clinical touch to it - which, in my view, is the vibe that Twins should give you while you're listening to this album.
Gave this a more attentive listen and checked out some other folks' thoughts. I guess I got fortunate 'cause I ain't hearin' no IGD, but there's some unevenness between tracks in the dynamic range dept. A few tunes sound real muffled, while others got that hiss and are packed with sibilance, particularly on Liz's vocals. The record itself is solid, flat as a pancake, labels dead center, and the surface is nice and quiet. I reckon I picked this up on Amazon, unlike "Four Calendar" and "Milk and Kisses," which I grabbed straight from 4AD's site (just them later CT drops).
