  • Post-Kish Kash Disappointment

    3 out of 5 stars

Few songs here, but not nearly as great as Kish kash. Sadly, they didn't achieve much chart success after this release.

  • Basement Jaxx's Nostalgic Blast

    3 out of 5 stars
    rquucqnem4 July 2024United States🇺🇸

When the hottest trends in house music fade, can they stay relevant? That's the puzzle presented by Basement Jaxx's _Crazy Itch Radio_. These musical chameleons still know how to create fantastic tracks, like the banjo-driven "Take Me Back to Your House," the klezmer-infused "Hey You," or the gospel/Bollywood fusion of "Everybody." Yet, there's a sense they're revisiting old ideas. "Hush Boy" echoes "Red Alert" from their first album _Remedy_, particularly with its piercing chorus, and sports even sillier vocals. "Everybody" starts off sounding a lot like "Breakaway" from _Rooty_ before it finds its own path. Their slower numbers, like "Lights Go Down" and "Keep Keep On," prove they're not always about the beat... even if that's where they shine. So, while this album isn't groundbreaking, it's still a blast for all.
