This one's a crazy plunge into Nick Cave’s peculiar obsession with the American South—drenched in blues, gothic, and oddly romantic. Here, Tupelo growls like a legend born from swampy threats and Elvis tales, while “Black Crow King” and “Train Long-Suffering” summon desert specters and chains on tracks. Once more, this version boasts decent audio quality but sports an unattractive cover. Stacked up against my 1988 German copy, it's downright hideous. The resolution's lower, and the print job feels cheaper. Volume-wise, it's a tad louder than the '88 edition. It's also a bit more squashed and heavy on the bass. And maybe a touch too digital.
Excellent remaster, it's got more openness and punch than those 2010 re-releases.
