Product description

Step back in time with The Doors as they invite you to experience their iconic album "Strange Days" in its raw, unpolished form with "Strange Days 1967: A Work In Progress." Released on April 12, 2025, this exclusive Record Store Day offering is a treasure trove for fans and collectors alike. The album features early, rough mixes of seven classic tracks, including "Strange Days," "Love Me Two Times," and "When the Music's Over," all meticulously mixed by Bruce Botnick back in 1967. These unreleased recordings offer a unique glimpse into the band's creative process, showcasing the raw energy and experimental spirit that defined their sound. With a runtime of just 27 minutes, this vinyl release is a concise yet powerful journey through the psychedelic and acid rock landscapes that The Doors helped pioneer. The album is pressed on translucent blue vinyl, making it a visually striking addition to any collection. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to The Doors' music, "Strange Days 1967: A Work In Progress" is a fascinating look at one of rock's most influential albums in its earliest stages.

This 2025 Limited Edition Numbered LP is pressed on Blue vinyl.

  • Unpolished Gem Shines Bright

    5 out of 5 stars
    Tey2September 30, 2025United States๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Absolutely amazing rendition of โ€˜When The Musicโ€™s Overโ€™ - it's way more unpolished than the final album track. Jimbo's singing is crystal clear, like you're right there in the studio when they hit 'record'. The whole album is worth buying just for this song alone.

  • Enjoyable Album for Enthusiasts

    5 out of 5 stars
    kqubqudoAugust 30, 2025United States๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Really enjoyable little album - the mixes are a blast and perfect for enthusiasts and collectors - though, quality-wise, this version is quite a distance from my superb AP double 45

  • Trippy Auditory Delight

    5 out of 5 stars
    ajev82May 4, 2025United States๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

My version sounds crisp and bright. What an amazing album! As someone who's loved this album for ages, I'm truly blown away by the lively, trippy, and genuine vibe radiating from every track. To my ears (and thoughts), these takes all feel a tad more laid-back compared to their original final album versions. For those who adore the original album, this release is a sheer auditory delight.

  • Heartstrings on Repeat

    5 out of 5 stars
    Lez886April 25, 2025United States๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Got this on RSD and it's been on repeat ever since. The sound is breathtakingly beautiful and eerie. If you're familiar with the tracks, you'll catch some tweaks but they're not major. I actually feel this version tugs at my heartstrings more than the original, and I'm hooked.

  • Sound Quality and Lacquer Cut

    5 out of 5 stars
    Czotaxno8sApril 18, 2025United Kingdom๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Absolutely delighted with the sound quality, the disk's color is lovely, and Bernie Grundman's lacquer cut is, in my humble opinion, worthy of 5 stars.

About The Doors

The Doors, formed in Los Angeles in 1965, are an iconic American rock band that left an indelible mark on the 1960s counterculture. Comprising vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore, the band is celebrated for their unique blend of psychedelic rock, classic rock, and acid rock. Morrison's powerful vocals and poetic lyrics, coupled with Manzarek's distinctive keyboard riffs, Krieger's inventive guitar work, and Densmore's dynamic drumming, created a sound that was both innovative and timeless. Their discography includes timeless tracks like "L.A. Woman," "Riders on the Storm," and "Light My Fire," which continue to captivate audiences today. The Doors' legacy is not just about their music; it's also about their influence on the cultural landscape of the era, making them one of the most influential and controversial rock acts of the 1960s.
