You can't beat this! There wasn't a single click or surface noise throughout all 5 LPs. The only crackling was on the 7inch, and it was minimal. Absolutely love the early live Doors!
I purchased this CD set primarily to listen to the track that was originally released on 7" vinyl, which was sandwiched between cardboard boxes with glue, The Doors - Live At The Matrix 1967: The Original Masters. The audio quality is superb, with the instruments and vocals sounding fantastic. The background noise is minimal and doesn't interfere, giving a natural feel to the recording space. I must admit, I'm partial to playing vinyl records anyway. The cover is top-notch, foldable, and visually appealing, but it's not very functional since the CDs can't be taken out, which is quite frustrating. I'd definitely recommend it. Regardless of the format, this recording is worth a listen (or multiple listens). Enjoy...Played on: Technics SL-100C, Ortofon Concorde Music Bronze, Rega Fono MM MK5, Technics SU-G700M2, Yamaha NS-777, Vinyl Cleaner Pro-Ject VC-E
No matter the format, I'm thrilled these recordings have made it to us. I'm a huge fan of their live performances, it's a fantastic way to experience this incredible band, alongside their studio albums. Vinyl is still my go-to, no matter the quality. The pressing is just okay, and opening the box was a letdown... the 7" record was jammed between cardboard boxes, even with glue. Instead of sending it back right away, I tried to fix it, my mistake... The single was unplayable, so I immediately bought the CD version for that track. The records were all a bit warped (nothing out of the ordinary), but they didn't play very well, so I spent hours cleaning (six times) and playing them. Now, they play well, except for a few spots that are still a bit rough. I'll say this upfront, if you don't have the patience for that, don't buy it and just go for the CD version. On the bright side, the sound really impressed me, I didn't expect such great sound from a live recording. The instruments and vocals sound amazing, the background is barely noticeable and doesn't distract, the recording space feels natural. I also have the CD version and the sound is good there too, but I still prefer vinyl. It's not better, but it sounds more enjoyable to me and the need to flip and change records keeps me engaged, more focused etc...The box is well constructed (except for the 7" stuck in the cardboard as I mentioned), the graphics are nice. I'm a The Dooors fan, so I bought it and I don't regret it, but the quality is just terrible. Anyone like me will buy it anyway. I recommend the recording itself. Enjoy listening and have fun...Played on: Technics SL-100C, Ortofon Concorde Music Bronze, Rega Fono MM MK5, Technics SU-G700M2, Yamaha NS-777, Vinyl Cleaner Pro-Ject VC-E
After what felt like forever, the much-anticipated box has arrived, and it's a must-have! No. 13996.. that was a close one...The only downside: Pressed By – GZ Media... Yuck...
I nearly skipped this due to some feedback, but I took a chance and I'm really happy I did. It takes me back to the days when I'd pick up bootleg tapes in Harvard Square back in the 80s. There were loads of Doors recordings, among others. It sounds just like you'd imagine a show from that era to sound, especially considering the recording's origin.
