My record is completely quiet (I gave it an ultra sonic clean and I'm playing it in mono mode on my phono pre). If you play this in normal stereo mode, it’s going to be noisy. Sounds amazing when turned up, insane bass on this. Love this album.
I'm absolutely thrilled with my purchase! The packaging is gorgeous, the gatefold cover is thick and robust, the vinyl is perfectly flat and silent, and the sound quality is outstanding. It's packed with bass, the vocals are warm and clear, and the soundstage is incredibly dense yet detailed. The stereo mixes on side four, especially "Vege-Tables," are mesmerizing. Five stars and a big smiley face!
I gotta say, this box set for an album is absolutely the top-notch one I've come across. The level of meticulousness is just jaw-dropping! The box itself is a true masterpiece and designed for showcasing, while all the contents are a goldmine for SMiLE enthusiasts like me. In a nutshell: The ultimate box set ever. Every single aspect, from the flawless vinyl to the CDs and extras (and the fantastic, high-caliber book!) is phenomenal. Grab one if you have the chance!
Honestly, I'm surprised I didn't check this out before grabbing it today. Dropped 80 bucks on a solid version, but I'm not sure I'm feeling it enough to hold onto it. Is the reissue really that much better sounding?
