Fantastic record, far better than other new releases. Incredible assortment of tunes.
Got the dreaded paper inner sleeve again. Vinyl's covered in paper bits and dust. Plus, it's off center — bet it's mike love's doing.
For those just getting into these albums, they might really blow you away. But for someone like me, who's had earlier copies from way back when, these two records come across as a bit muddy. They're way too heavy on the bass and miss that mid-range that the original versions had. It's not like you can't listen to them, but it's kinda sad for what vinyl pressings can do these days. These should sound amazing, but they just don't. The label really dropped the ball here.
I'm awarding 5 stars purely for the music, which is absolutely brilliant, but this album is hands down one of the worst mastered I've ever encountered. The highs are CRazy loud and the lows are way too boomy… I can only assume they messed up big time during mastering and somehow let it slip through. I find it hard to believe it was approved, unless the people in charge didn't actually listen to the final product. If they didn't notice something was off, maybe they should consider another line of work. I had to tweak the EQ on my amp (turned both bass and treble down by four clicks each) and it sounds decent then. But I really shouldn't have to do this in the first place.
I wondered if some reviewers got a totally different boxset. What's wrong with the original sound of Sunflower? Not much, in my opinion. The remastering is done really well. The boxset is stunning, with fantastic artwork. This Feel Flows boxset is amazing!
