Incredible record, fantastic pressing! This one's gonna spin a lot in my setup 😊
Absolutely flawless silent pressing, no dish, no warp. AMAZING wide soundstage. Mastered to perfection. Truthfully one of my best sounding records. You can hear blues and Hardbop transitioning into modal jazz. Highly recommend. 5 stars non-stop.
Often overshadowed in the Byrd discography, this album stands tall among his best work, right alongside Kofi, Knights, and the like. I've had my hands on many of his records, and this one is right up there with the cream of the crop. Byrd experimented with numerous styles, but this record showcases some of his finest playing. It might not be groundbreaking or revolutionary, and you can certainly hear the influences of Hancock and Silver seeping through at times, but it's a solid, satisfying listen that really resonates with me. The musicians involved speak volumes. Walton truly shines, giving the record its distinctive flavor, but every member holds their own. In my opinion, it's a must-have.
I haven't got an early pressing to match up against, but this one sounds amazing to me! Super clear, full of energy with plenty of nuances and distinctness. Just what you'd hope for from a Tone Poet release.
At last, I've come across a pristine first pressing. This album is typically in rough shape since it was played over and over! And rightfully so. What an amazing groove.
