For his second time at the helm with Blue Note, Byrd once more opts for a sextet. "Witchcraft" and "Here I am" are fantastic. The other tracks are just alright.
I'm genuinely impressed with this pressing! It's perfectly flat and has minimal disturbances. The sound quality is fantastic, I'm really pleased with my purchase.
I must say, I was genuinely impressed with the overall quality of this recording. Lately, I transferred this LP along with Byrd In Flight (from the Blue Note Tone Poet series) into a digital format so I could enjoy them in my car, and I was blown away by how well this LP held up next to the Blue Note pressing. Now I'm browsing the Vinyl Passage catalog to see what other hidden treasures I might discover there. It's only fair to highlight that the music itself is outstanding - this is a highly recommended LP, regardless of the label or format.
