Product description

Pearl Jam's eighth studio album, released in 2006, is a powerful testament to the band's enduring relevance and musical prowess. This self-titled record, often dubbed "The Avocado Album," marks their first and only release under J Records, showcasing a raw and energetic sound that harkens back to their grunge roots while embracing a more mature, post-grunge aesthetic.

The album kicks off with a bang, immediately grabbing the attention with its loud, fast, and tight sound. "Life Wasted" sets the tone for the rest of the record, which spans 13 tracks and a duration of nearly 50 minutes. Standout tracks like "World Wide Suicide," "Comatose," and "Severed Hand" highlight the band's signature gritty vocals and powerful instrumentation, while songs like "Parachutes" and "Big Wave" offer moments of introspection and melody.

Pearl Jam's 2006 self-titled album is a compelling blend of their iconic grunge sound and a more polished, mature rock style. It's a record that demands to be heard, offering a mix of high-energy tracks and thoughtful, reflective moments. Whether you're a long-time fan or a newcomer to Pearl Jam's music, this album is sure to leave a lasting impression.

This is a 2023 Reissue Remastered released as a 2LP set.

  • Bent Vinyl Disappointment

    2 out of 5 stars
    viaqetwiejJanuary 9, 2026United States🇺🇸

I recently purchased this 2021 edition, and my copy is quite bent (completely buckled along the edges). Disc 2 is even worse, to the extent that the first track on side 3 cuts out a bit as the bend dips. This makes the track unlistenable as the needle keeps skipping from the groove when the record's bend hits it. It's a real disappointment because the overall sound quality and mastering are good. The shop where I bought this had two other copies, both bent. I can't recommend this pressing. I know vinyl enthusiasts can be picky about quality control, but this really should have been taken off the shelves.

  • Disc Quality Concerns

    4 out of 5 stars
    wymokfislAugust 10, 2025United States🇺🇸

Initially, I suspected they were trying to pass off a counterfeit item: the print quality on the cover isn't up to par with their other re-releases. Plus, the visibly warped first disc doesn't exactly scream premium product. But, I gotta say, the sound quality is pretty decent to me.

  • Price Drop Disappointment, Mix Praise

    3 out of 5 stars
    vqekyisbimpacAugust 8, 2025United States🇺🇸

Well, the price drop on the reissue didn't quite work out as hoped. Shame that J Records messed up the pressing. I'm really liking the new O'Brien mix, though. I haven't grabbed it on vinyl yet because of all the issues people have reported, but I might still. Or maybe not... I reckon the old mix sounds better on vinyl, and the new one's easy enough to find digitally. I'm pretty content as is. It took me ages to warm up to this album – it's not a favorite by any means, but I really enjoy it now, and it's climbed a good few spots in my personal rankings. The album artwork is stunning.

  • Disc Two Ruined

    2 out of 5 stars
    txsid407July 20, 2025United States🇺🇸

Totally messed up. It's absolutely absurd that they included these with the bulky booklet and wrecked disc two.

  • Marble Blue with Booklet

    5 out of 5 stars
    suecazahhuzcewJune 23, 2025United States🇺🇸

My version isn't blue, it's more like a blue marble with a gentle pull. It also includes a 17-page booklet with songs and photos.
