Product description

Dive into the gritty and introspective world of Pearl Jam with "Gigaton," their eleventh studio album released on March 27, 2020, via Republic Records. This 57-minute journey through the band's signature grunge and post-grunge sounds is a testament to their enduring relevance in the rock genre. Produced and mixed by Josh Evans, with engineering by John Burton and Josh Evans, "Gigaton" was recorded at the iconic GT Studios, ensuring a rich and powerful sonic experience.

The album kicks off with "Who Ever Said," setting the tone for the raw and thought-provoking lyrics that follow. Standout tracks like "Superblood Wolfmoon" and "Dance of the Clairvoyants" showcase Pearl Jam's ability to blend soaring choruses with a sense of unease, reflecting on an uncertain future. The album's cover, featuring the work of Canadian photographer, filmmaker, and marine biologist, adds a visual depth that complements the music's introspective themes.

"Gigaton" is not just another rock album; it's a bold statement from a band that has consistently pushed the boundaries of their genre. The album's length, just under an hour, provides a comprehensive listen that fans will appreciate. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to Pearl Jam's music, "Gigaton" offers a powerful and engaging experience that highlights the band's musical prowess and lyrical depth. The album's release was followed by the Gigaton Tour, the band's first tour since 2018, further cementing its impact on the rock scene.

This LP is housed in a gatefold.

  • US Edition Sounds Superior

    5 out of 5 stars
    CafziegHacudobMay 19, 2025United States🇺🇸

I own both the US and EU editions (In The Midst Of The 6th), and I must say, the American version (Is This You?) is far superior. It's more vibrant and crisp, with a wider sound stage, so go for the US release.

  • Decent, Familiar PJ Album

    3 out of 5 stars
    alzuyuucMarch 31, 2025United States🇺🇸

Solid album, my rating doesn't undermine the effort, rather it places it in the fair assessment it deserves; Gigaton is a decent record. Neither exceptional nor disappointing. It sticks to PJ's classic style with some modern twists like in 'Dance Of The Clayrvotans', where the subtle electronic touch shines. Another album, but not an unnecessary one either. Perhaps not the most significant in their discography.

  • Sound and Packaging Excellence

    5 out of 5 stars
    nesadtababoMarch 12, 2025United States🇺🇸

Echoing what others have said - the sound quality is top-notch, super quiet, and full of energy. The packaging is absolutely stunning - beautiful full gatefold printing on both sides, plus an insert book filled with awesome photos, lyrics, and credits. From start to finish, it's a fantastic package. You can tell a lot of love and care went into every detail. This is the kind of release other albums aspire to be.

  • Punchy Bass, Crisp Sound

I'd suggest this pressing... The bass is punchy.. overall sound is lively and crisp… I really like it! No hiss

  • Mixed Feelings on Pearl Jam's Latest

    2 out of 5 stars

June 20. I initially set this album aside for a while, feeling a tad underwhelmed after my first few listens. It didn't quite feel like a record worth waiting seven years for. I recall the first half being solid, but then the slow tracks at the end threw me off. I wasn't keen on the pop track, 'Dance of the Clairvoyants' either. To me, blending in with the crowd isn't exactly standing out. Like many of Pearl Jam's later works, this one likely needs multiple listens to fully appreciate. So, how does it sound now? I'm genuinely fond of the opening track, 'Whoever Said?'. I considered suggesting it could be shorter, but it held my attention throughout, especially with the interesting shifts in the second half. 'Superblood Wolfmoon' is a solid rocker, and 'Quick Escape' being a single caught me off guard; it's just an average tune. 'Alright' has pleasant slow verses, but I can't shake the feeling that the keys are a bit irritating during these quieter moments, and ultimately, the song doesn't really go anywhere. I adored the beginning of 'Seven O'Clock', but then... 'Never Destination' was my favorite upon first listen, and it still is. It's great to have a rock song brightening up the middle of the album. It stands out so much more than the surrounding tracks; why didn't they include more of these? And finally, some brilliant work from McCready. He's largely underutilized on this album. 'Take the Long Way' is a decent album rock track, but it's not particularly remarkable. I'm drawn to the guitars in the slow 'Buckle Up'. So soothing. It would pair well with their 'Last Kiss' cover in terms of content and style. The acoustic-driven 'Comes Then Goes' is a great slow song, 'Retrograde' isn't bad, and I appreciate the organs in 'River Cross', another good slow track. Individually, these songs are fine for a change of pace, but ending with four slow, often aimless tracks makes the album's conclusion feel dragged out. It's not a bad album, but it lacks standout tracks, making it my least favorite Pearl Jam album. A generous 2.5/5.
