  • Time Machine Treasure Trove

    5 out of 5 stars
    ebotvceboyaiNovember 13, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Absolutely lovely box. It's like a time machine filled with promotional goodies, all wrapped around a regular (not generic) Stereo version of Nilsson’s debut album. Inside, you'll find typed lyrics, a typed bio, and a typed promo sheet. There are two balloons (red and orange), two sheets of stickers, a small poster, two 8x10 black and white photos, a button, and a “membership” type card. The inside of the box is printed all over, and on the left side, there's a folder slot holding all the inserts. There's hardly any info on the outside of the box to hint at the treasures inside. “The True One” is truly a stunning piece from 1967.

Among the most remarkably unique albums from the sixties, and certainly one of the finest. Nilsson’s tracks drip with classic show-business expertise, yet keep a fun, psychedelic vibe. Five stars.

  • Harry's Astounding Debut Album

    5 out of 5 stars
    YwRereeOctober 19, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Harry's take on "You Can't Do That" is nothing short of astounding, and it's just one of the many treasures you'll find on his first RCA record. This album is a wild, brilliant ride from beginning to end, and the sound quality is top-notch. The mono sound is remarkably full, with a deep low end, and the vinyl itself is perfectly flat, clean, and quiet. A truly excellent sounding record. I picked up my copy used, but it plays like new, with not a single hint of surface noise. Five stars and a big smile for this one.

Harry's take on "You Can't Do That" is nothing short of astounding, and it's merely one of the many treasures you'll find on his first RCA record. This album is a wild, genius ride from beginning to end, and this particular copy sounds incredible. The mono sound is remarkably full, with a rich low end, and the vinyl itself is perfectly flat, spotless, and silent. A truly superb sounding record. I picked up my copy used, but it plays like new, with not a hint of surface noise. Five stars and a smiley face for sure!

About Harry Nilsson

Harry Nilsson, born Harry Edward Nilsson III, was an American singer-songwriter who captivated audiences with his unique blend of baroque pop and singer-songwriter sensibilities. Rising to fame in the early 1970s, Nilsson's music is renowned for its pioneering vocal overdub experiments, a deep reverence for the Great American Songbook, and a distinctive fusion of Caribbean rhythms. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Nilsson achieved significant commercial success without the need for extensive touring or public performances, a testament to his powerful and emotive recordings.

His discography is a treasure trove of memorable hits, including "Without You," "Coconut," and "Everybody's Talking," a cover of Fred Neil's song that showcased his crystalline vocals and songwriting prowess. Nilsson's talent was so revered that he was once cited by The Beatles' John Lennon and Paul McCartney as their favorite recording artist. His work spans multiple genres and styles, often blending nostalgia with innovation within a single song.

Despite his immense talent, Nilsson faced personal struggles, including stage fright and alcoholism. His financial troubles, exacerbated by poor management, added to his challenges. However, his legacy endures through his timeless music, which continues to inspire and enchant fans worldwide. Nilsson's contributions to music earned him two Grammy Awards, cementing his place as a legendary figure in the world of pop and rock.
