Adore it, tons of content to enjoy, and snagged it on Black Friday for just 120 bucks! HELL YEEEEEEEEES!
Really let down by the quality control. My Sad But True picture disc came with scratches. Still, I managed to put it in a MoFi sleeve, as it only came with the usual PVC one. The Wembley record had a huge scratch too...Not sure what you'd call it, but it's not coming off. Apart from a couple of small dents on the box, everything else is okay. But it's made me remember why I usually avoid box sets.
quality control was terrible. the first disk was so warped it wouldn't even play. I had to send it back. disk 2 was good. what a let down
The pressing is top-notch, the records are flawless, they spin smoothly and without any noise (except for 1x faded out, a minor crack in the grooves, and the record's edges about 3x). The sound is impeccable, full of dynamism, each instrument shines, the bass is powerful, the mids and highs are smooth, no compression in sight. The cover is pocket-sized, which I don't mind, in fact, the design and print quality of both the cover and the insert are excellent, I have no complaints. I used the download code (MP3 320Kbps) and listened to the album a few times while jogging, but when I played the vinyl, the quality difference was staggering, after a while I got chills from the music and the sound quality, it's amazing. I skipped this album when it first came out, of course, you couldn't miss the hits from it, they were everywhere, so I never gave it a full listen. But this year, I'm hearing the whole album for the first time and after several listens both outdoors and at home, I have to say it's fantastic. My all-time favorite "Ride The Lightning" still takes the top spot, but this one is a close second and I'm enjoying it more with each listen. With this album, I'm wrapping up my Metallica exploration and taking a break from their newer stuff because I'm more into music from the 60s to the 80s (there was so much happening and I want to hear it all). This release was a real success, the album is great and I'm thrilled with it. I highly recommend it. Enjoy...Played on: Technics SL-100C, Ortofon Concorde Music Bronze, Rega Fono MM MK5, Technics SU-G700M2, Yamaha NS-777, Vinyl Cleaner Pro-Ject VC-E
Fantastic press. If you can't find the original, this one's the way to go.
