Product description

Metallica's ninth studio album, Death Magnetic, is a sonic powerhouse that unleashes a maelstrom of unbridled energy upon its listeners. Released on 1 January 2008 through Blackened Recordings and Universal Music, this magnum opus is a testament to the band's unwavering dedication to their craft. Clocking in at an impressive 1 hour and 14 minutes, Death Magnetic is a masterclass in metal, thrash metal, rock, heavy metal, and hard rock, seamlessly blending these genres to create a truly unforgettable experience.

As the album bursts into life with the opening track 'That Was Just Your Life', it becomes abundantly clear that Metallica is on a mission to push the boundaries of their sound. With each successive track, the band's signature intensity and aggression are palpable, from the pummelling rhythms of 'The End Of The Line' and 'Broken, Beat & Scarred' to the haunting melodies of 'The Day That Never Comes' and 'The Unforgiven III'. The album's latter half is just as unrelenting, with 'All Nightmare Long', 'Cyanide', 'The Judas Kiss', 'Suicide & Redemption', and 'My Apocalypse' all contributing to a sense of unbridled fury that threatens to consume everything in its path.

Throughout Death Magnetic, Metallica's technical prowess and lyrical depth are on full display, making for an album that is at once both a cathartic release of pent-up emotion and a nuanced exploration of the human condition. With its unflinching intensity and unwavering commitment to their art, Metallica has created an album that will leave even the most discerning fans breathless and eager for more.

This 2024 Limited Edition Reissue 2LP set is pressed on Silver vinyl.

  • Weakest Metallica Album

    4 out of 5 stars
    sbizra81December 23, 2025United States🇺🇸

I picked up the 5-record set, and this one's the weakest sounding of the bunch. Don't get me wrong, it's still a badass album. It just doesn't hit as hard as "Load" and "Garage Inc.", which both sound fantastic. Even "St. Anger" sounds better in comparison. You can hear Rubin's over-the-top influence on this one, but thankfully, they didn't let him ruin the record.

  • Audio Improved, Still Meh

    5 out of 5 stars
    atwifewta_December 19, 2025United States🇺🇸

Meh. Two records. Good audio, improved from initial release!

  • Remastered Version Perfect

    5 out of 5 stars
    JG237December 19, 2025United States🇺🇸

Finally, this remastered version for iTunes sounds just right! It's about time they released a remastered version for CD and Vinyl too. The annoying overcompressed clipping noise is gone now.

  • Mismatched Catalogue Details

    4 out of 5 stars
    Vzois_NiobiDecember 12, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

The catalogue numbers on this match what I have, but it's not the 'cut-out' booklet style, and the front has the logo and title printed in silver metallic instead.

  • Solid Listen, Nostalgic Distortion

    5 out of 5 stars
    jotcsej54November 14, 2025United States🇺🇸

To my ears, it's a solid listen, reminiscent of their earlier work with a more deliberate use of distortion. The disc is well-pressed, though they opted for those cheap paper inner sleeves, so be sure to give it a quick clean with a carbon fiber brush before each play to avoid any skips.
