Paul Simon's '83 album is a fantastic listen, right before his huge success with Graceland. His songwriting shines throughout, with memorable tunes and engaging narratives. Al Dimeola's guitar work is outstanding, though perhaps a bit much at times, but that's typical Al. The backing musicians are stellar, featuring Airto, Bernard E, Marcus M, Nile R, M Manieri, S McGinnis, S Gadd, and many more. When Paul calls, it seems like all of New York comes to play. The mixing and mastering by Robert Ludwig are top-notch, making for a great sounding record. Highly recommended.
The sound quality on this record is absolutely fantastic. It's got great dynamics and is everything you'd hope for.
This remaster is fantastic, though it's a tad more compact than the original US CD, it boasts improved tonal quality and EQ, offering greater presence and punch.
Date is 1998 or before (got mine in Amsterdam during the summer of 98)
I couldn't agree more with the other reviews - this album sounds absolutely fantastic, with an impressive soundstage and excellent dynamics. In my opinion, it's one of Paul's best works.
