Initially, I steered clear due to feedback saying it's not a must-have... Big blunder! It's not on par with A Love Supreme but... Outstanding talent, obviously, plus the mastering and QRP pressing deserve 5 stars. On vinyl, it's a must-have. Grab it...
Great quality pressing. I didn't have high hopes when I purchased it, but after giving it a play, I was happily surprised. Super quiet right out of the box (no need for any washing or cleaning), and incredibly detailed. I had to toss the paper sleeve.
The audio quality is fantastic; it's certainly attention-grabbing. No issues with the pressing quality either. As someone who loves Coltrane's Prestige and early Impulse work, I was really happy with the music too. The liner notes were packed with useful info as well.
Turning into my top pick by Coltrane. Super chill and relaxed. It's repetitive, sure, but it's all smooth sailing, no crazy shrieks. --Acutex M420STR cartMarantz TT-15Parks Puffin phono
As a jazz enthusiast, I must say this album sounds really good considering where it comes from. The record pressing is quite nice too, with no annoying surface noise or defects to interrupt the listening experience. Is it Essential Coltrane? Maybe not, but it's definitely an enjoyable listen and a valuable addition to Coltrane's collection. I'm particularly fond of the rendition of Naima. And about the paper sleeve, it's really not bad at all. There are certainly worse ones out there.
