I must say, I'm quite fond of this album. It's a fantastic collection of awesome songs. The audio quality isn't consistent throughout, but on the whole, it's really quite good.
Nice variety of tunes and peaceful pressing but the audio is quite squashed.
I decided to give this a try on impulse and I'm happy with my purchase. The packaging is gorgeous and comes with an intriguing essay that really puts everything into perspective. The majority of the recordings have a rich, full sound, although a few seem a tad thin. My discs turned out perfectly flat, but they needed a thorough cleaning before playing to remove all the residue from the manufacturing process.
This pressing isn't terrible, but it's not the best either. There's some surface noise, but it's not too bothersome. The music, though, is incredible. John Coltrane was a truly gifted artist whose work deserves way more recognition.
There's a bit of surface noise, but it's not too bad. It's more than I anticipated, but it doesn't distract from the listening experience. The sound quality is inconsistent. The first LP feels quite compressed. Side C is louder and less compressed, but still not even. Side D seems to be the most open and spacious of the entire album. As others have mentioned, the track selection is excellent. The audio quality could definitely be improved. Is it worth purchasing? Yes, but don't pay over the odds for it.
