I recently grabbed this album while rummaging through a bunch of 80's records at my local thrift shop. It's in near mint condition and wow, what a find! I wasn't familiar with this one, but it's absolutely amazing! The guitar work is out of this world, and the percussion is just incredible. Santana never disappoints, so it's no shock that this is fantastic, but it's definitely a pleasant surprise I stumbled upon amidst all those 80's albums.
Carlos is absolutely fantastic. The production is great, and Big song is a total hit.
The recording's quality, especially on the first pressing, is absolutely mind-blowing. You'll want to hover your hands near the speakers and gather up those sweet, sweet bells in your palms.
The packaging is neat and the vinyl is clean. There's a minor warp, but it doesn't impact the sound. The bass and midrange are rich and full. The highs could be a tad brighter (more sparkling), but overall, it sounds fantastic. Likely an underrated Santana treasure. It's a strong album with a great remaster. I'd definitely recommend it.
Santana must have been at their peak when they created this masterpiece. It truly captures the incredible energy they had back in the early 80's. The vocals are so powerful, the solos are heartfelt, and the drumming and percussion are just on point. Absolutely fantastic!
